ABOUT THE OWNER

Katie Ferrell

Katie got her big break in fashion after graduating from college when she was offered a fashion internship with Harper's Bazaar in New York City. After completing the internship, she continued pursuing her dream of becoming a fashion stylist and continued working in New York. There she went on to become a freelance assistant stylist working with such publications as Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan en Espanol, The Oprah Winfrey Magazine, etc..  Soon, thereafter, she was recruited by the creative department at Neiman Marcus to join their fashion photo styling team as an assistant stylist for their catalog and online divisions.  It was there that Katie enjoyed much success.  Under the mentorship of the director, she learned how to cultivate her craft and was awarded many opportunities to style for the catalog.  However, after years of being away from her family, she decided to move to Nashville, Tennessee to be closer to them.  With this new change of pace, she decided to make a career move and work as a personal stylist.  Being new to the city, she joined one of the only stores offering personal shopping services at that time, J.Crew, and quickly became one of the most successful stylists in the company.  She remained there for many years before deciding to pursue another passion: travel photography.  She took a sabbatical year in 2016 and travelled solo around the world exploring new places, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures. Now, six continents and twenty countries later, she's back in Nashville and starting her first business, The Ideal Closet: Fashion Styling, Personal Shopping, and Home Organization.
